On Monday the 20th of November a follow up meeting (after the first visit by minister Marilyn Alcalá-Wallé on the 7th of November) was held at the offices of the AAC in the World Trade Center in Willemstad. This gathering was held specifically to continue the process of pursuing our goal of working together with the ministry of education of Curacao in a mutually beneficial, constructive, and above all transparent manner.

The meeting lasted approximately one and a half hours and after introductions by Dr. Aignald Panneflek and a short presentation by Zulaika Mook MSc, many important topics were discussed. Among the issues that were deliberated, there was the potential collaboration between the ministry and our agency, our future membership of ENQA, the benefits of having a local accreditation agency for local students and for the island as a whole, and finally the remunerations that could come for the state from universities operating in the tax friendly environment of the island.

The general feeling among those present was that the discussions were very friendly and helpful. I want to thank Mrs. Susan Larmonie for coming to our offices and I very much look forward to our next meeting with the minister and her advisors on the 4th of December.
